Why The Need For
Community Outreach?
Because many communities do not want data center developments in their backyards.
These gigawatt-scale infrastructure developments require large parcels of land, often hundreds of acres, impacting the communities around them.

WHY?
Throughout the US and in Texas specifically, AI data center demand is forecast to grow more than 10 times through 2030, requiring $1 trillion in capital investment. By 2030, AI could demand 20% of U.S. electricity (vs 2% today), to fuel 100 GW of compute campuses.
To provide data center campuses with power, many owner/operators will either build their own on-site power plants, or contract with independent power producers to construct and operate power plants behind-the-meter (BTM). BTM power plants may include large-scale natural gas combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), small modular reactors (SMR), battery energy storage systems (BESS), geothermal energy, or most likely, a combination of these systems. Power plants, like data centers, require hundreds of acres of land, further impacting communities.
Lack of information and understanding about data centers and power plants often fosters mistrust. INFRAoutreach® helps infrastructure developers connect with communities to build positive relationships as early as possible, during construction and throughout the project lifecycle.
